in and around the medina

Dotted around Dar Roumana, you will find plenty of shady lounges and sun-drenched terraces to stretch out with a book, sip a cool drink over a game of cards, or simply doze on the verdant roof terrace.  When it's time to venture into the medina, we are happy to recommend a guide for your medina visit, or suggest our favorite hammams, or hole-in-the-wall eatery.  We can arrange cooking lessons, handicraft & artisanal tours, and a number of bespoke experiences.

The Roman ruins of Volubilis and the Imperial city of Meknes are an easy day trip from Fez, as are the cool pine forests of the Middle Atlas with its population of Barbary apes.  Try artisanal cheeses on an organic farm in the countryside, try your hand at haggling at the weekly Azrou rug souk, or relax with lunch by the pool in a rustic rural retreat.

In addition to the activities above, Dar Roumana is an ideal venue for special events: weddings, birthday gatherings, photo shoots, anniversaries and even marriage proposals. We're happy to help you plan your event, organise musicians, decor, catering, and all take care of all the logistics.

Around Morocco

When it is time to move on, we can arrange transport (with or without driver), guides and tours - and are of course happy to share our recommendations for "must-see" sites and favorite activities and accommodation around the country.  Fez is a natural starting point for excursions to the stunning dunes of Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.  From there, the road to passes by the dramatic Dades Gorge, Ait Benhaddou, the High Atlas Mountains, and on to Marrakech.  Travelers heading north might want to pass through the blue village of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains en route to Tangier and the Mediterranean beaches.
